How can we help?
Ticket re-sale/scalping
Unethical secondary ticketing is when people buy tickets at face value and then resell them at inflated prices via non-artist approved methods and websites, thus denying real fans the chance to buy at face value.
Ticket touts and unauthorised resellers use multiple payment cards, false identities and sophisticated computer programs (‘bots’) to buy up large amounts of tickets which they then offer for resale at highly inflated prices.
Purchases made via unauthorised outlets and people may be considered fraudulent and may not grant you access to the shows. In addition, where you are not the original ticket purchaser, your rights relating to a refund where an event is rescheduled, postposed, or cancelled may be restricted, and you will not receive important communications from the official ticketing agency about rescheduled, postposed, or cancelled events.
Some States and Territories have specific laws regarding ticket resales, including a cap on the resale ticket price, for further details visit the ACCC’s website and/or the consumer affairs body/department for your State or Territory.
Examples of unauthorised online outlets include Viagogo; Stubhub; Ticketfinders; The Ticket Merchant; Trade Me; Tixel; eBay; Gumtree; and Worldticketshop. Purchasing from and selling to strangers on social media and through Facebook groups should also be avoided.
The only way to be sure you’re paying the correct prices and receiving legitimate tickets is by purchasing via the show’s official ticketing agency. Examples of our commonly used official ticketing agencies include AXS, Moshtix, Oztix, Ticketmaster and Ticketek.
Find the official ticketing agency in the 'Ticket information' section for your chosen tour date on the relevant tour page on our website.
If you think you have purchased tickets that are scalped or illegitimate, immediately contact the person or website who sold them to you for more information.
Ultimately, it’s at the discretion of the venue and its staff (including any official ticketing agency representatives) to decide whether a ticket is valid for entry.
Frontier Touring, the authorised ticketing agency and the venue are not responsible for unauthorised ticket disputes.
The best way to make scalping a priority issue for authorities is to make your views and experiences known to the ACCC and the consumer affairs body/department for your State or Territory.
